A nurturing and comfortable space is essential for young minds to learn. For that very reason, the infrastructure of our school is paramount. We ensure that our nursery school becomes a home away from home for pre-primary children. It is a safe and calm environment where the only focus for students is learning while building bonds with their classmates and teachers. To achieve our academic goals, we provide a conducive space for teachers to carry out their duties without hassles or distractions.
Our airy, spacious, and well-lit classrooms provide the perfect space to support both learning and teaching. Comfortable and colourful child-friendly desks and benches, cupboards and large green boards make the spaces vibrant. We don’t just rely on bookish learning, but also on visual impact as it appeals to young children. Each of our classrooms have word walls and magic boards that depict the theme of learning for each month.
A large, open space in the basement provides for staging various literary activities to engage the students in constructive activities. These include storytelling, role-plays, puppetry and other festivals.
A major attraction for the children, our designated activity centre is meant for the holistic development of each child. It provides a space for hands-on experiences of topics and subjects that the children are learning in the classrooms. It has separate demarcated areas for science, mathematics, art, and reading nooks that provide for a cosy and vibrant storytelling space. Montessori materials and hands-on activity materials are displayed in these areas. The aim of this centre is to provide sensory and intellectual stimulation to enhance the learning experience.
The colourful decor and feel of this room appeal to the little children in such a way that they want to spend all their time here.
At a time when reading books is becoming a novelty, it is imperative to inculcate the habit at a very young age. Reading helps shape young minds by sparking their imagination, improving their reading and communication skills, and even their ability to focus. Our well-stocked library — with age-appropriate books of various genres like picture books, science storybooks, phonics, general awareness, and value-based books — enables teachers to sow the seeds of reading in our students. These books satiate curious minds while supporting their academic learning.
Our auditorium at Sri Kumaran Children’s Home-Nursery-TSF features state-of-art facilities and is the perfect place to host all kinds of school-related events. It boasts of premium acoustics, a drop-down screen to view movies or presentations related to academics, the latest multimedia technologies, and seats about 500 people. This is where our students get to showcase their talents during school functions.
Our spacious and airy conference room is where teachers and staff members hold all their meetings to review the school’s curriculum and programme of events for the month or week. It features the latest updated computers, software, a projector and display screens.
Open areas in cities have shrunk as we see more buildings being built all around, and so has the space for children to play. We believe that a space for children to have the freedom to run around and expend their energies is not a luxury but a necessity. Our play area is tailor-made for the needs of small children to make it a safe space that brings them utmost joy.
Our indoor play area is yet another attraction for the little ones and has proven to be a reason for children to willingly coming to school. It is well equipped with child-proof slides, swings, ball pools, tunnels, bridges and trampolines, all made with soft material. This provides a space for the children to explore their fun and adventurous sides while enhancing their motor skills. In addition to this, we have an outdoor sandpit for the children to play in. The sandpit is equipped with climbing walls inside, which the children enjoy very much. It is one of the activities that contribute to the development of gross motor skills. Wall climbing is part of free play and is supervised by the class teacher and a helper.
